Austin ARC Badge

The AARC is a 501c(3) non-profit organization and an ARRL Special Service Club that provides many communication and educational services to the Austin community. They support and sponsor emergency communications services through the Travis County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (www.tcares.org). The AARC is active in many areas, including the ARCHES Hospital response program and the HSMM (High Speed Multimedia) digital group that is leading the way for an Amateur only 2.4 gig high speed backbone for emergency communications in central Texas. They are also part of a large scale implementation of Winlink to support community service and emcom operations and are also active QCWA, QRP and ATV SIGS. The club hosts several repeaters. These are the 146.94, 146.78, 146.88, 444.100 and 224.800 repeaters. Last year they installed a DSTAR repeater which will provide both 2 meters and 1.2 gig voice and data operations. It can be found on 146.480 /W5KA The AARC also supports the ARRL Summerfest Convention and hamfest which is held the first full weekend in August every year.
